I like to make my own cards much more than buying one. It was my lovely little sister in laws birthday last week so I made her a card, full of sparkles and buttons and glitter. Here’s how.
You will need: A5 card, beads, buttons, glitter, sequins, double sided sticky tape, black ink and a happy birthday stamp.
First of all draw out the birthday number you want to use in pencil. Then use little strips of double sided sticky tape to cover over the number forming a sticky number, making sure you leave enough space for your greeting stamp.
Peel off one of the backing pieces of tape and start to cover it with sequins. Only use a couple of small buttons and then fill in the gaps with seed beads. Make sure you press down on the buttons and beads hard so that they are stuck down safely. Carry on peeling off section after section and covering with sparkles. Once you are happy with the effect give the buttons another push down.
Cover your stamp with ink and press down firmly onto the card in the place that you want. I find these plastic reusable stamps and a see through block are the best as you can see exactly where you want to put the design.
That’s it – super simple but really effective and tactile. And sparkly. You could do any number (11 is a winner!) and use coordinating colours. Why not add other embellishments like mirrors and gems. What about scrabbles tiles or sweetie wrappers? Get creative!
Love, Mrs Gardom
